KIBCA is looking for the best name to give to Kolombangara Island’s mountain conservation area.
In 2008 and 2009 all Kolombangara landholders agreed to protect all land over 400m above sea level from logging and mining. We now need a name for this new 20,000 hectare ‘protected area’.
KIBCA is seeking a Nduke language name for the area to honour the language of Kolombangara. The name will be added to the English name that represents the type of conservation area eg. xxxxx National Park.
Send your suggestions to KIBCA’s office, Ringgi, with your own name and village and an explanation of why you have chosen it.Send by mail to PO Box 199, Gizo, Fax 60 020 or email us via our contact page.
WINNER’S PRIZE: Choose 3 cartons of Soltai Chilli Taiyo OR a bemobile phone*, SIM and $500 credit.
